  • Decide what type of jar you want to use. It can be something as simple as a big jar or glass container, a Tupperware, or a coffee mug. You can also use a mason jar with a lid.


  •  Label your jar with the word “gratitude.” You can write it on the lid in a permanent marker. Decorate the outside of your jar with stickers, washi tape, or anything you like.


  •  Place the jar somewhere where it will be seen often – maybe next to your bedside table or kitchen countertop – so it becomes a daily reminder to focus on the positives in life.


  • Make a list of all the things you’re grateful for. Write them on slips of paper, one per line. And Put each slip in the jar.


  • Remember to add new items when they come up and continue filling your jars with these memories and moments of happiness. You can also make a list of what you’re grateful for at the end of each week, month, or year if that works better for you.


  • Every night before bedtime, shake up the jar and pick one slip of paper to read aloud. You can also read them when you feel like you need some encouragement or inspiration during difficult times in life. After reading it out loud, put it back in the jar.
