  • Every step you take to stay physically and emotionally healthy.

Why is self-care important?

We spend so much time working long hours, caring for others, and always putting ourselves in the last position. But we often ignore is that we need to take care of ourselves first to help others. Self-care allows us to renew our energy to offer the best version of ourselves to the people around us. Self-care helps reduce everyday stress and boost our productivity. By paying adequate attention to our mental and physical health, you are mindful of your own needs. It is an ultimate act of self-love. How can you love others if you don’t know how to love yourself?

Even though you can choose any day of the week to practice self-care, most people choose Sunday because their workweek usually starts on Monday. Besides, Mondays can be stressful for many of us. 10 Basic Self-care Sunday ideas

Here are 10 Basic self-care Sunday ideas to recharge yourself and set the tone for a successful and amazing week.

1. Spend time in bed

Don’t rush your Sunday morning wake-up. But
If you are an early bird, at least spend some extra time in bed to read your favorite book, do some shopping online, cuddle, or even have breakfast in bed.

2. Go for a morning walk

Even though walking may not be the top of your priority, taking a quick morning walk in your neighborhood is an excellent way to refresh your mind. Not only will you burn a few calories, but you will also get more mental clarity. Furthermore, morning walks, especially in nature, can help improve your mood, focus, and creativity.

3. Brunch

Outside or at home, Sunday brunch is always a good idea. A brunch is the perfect social occasion to bond and enjoy the company of your friends and family over a delicious meal.

4. Take a Sunday afternoon nap

Sunday afternoon nap, anyone? Power naps have the ability to relax, reduce fatigue and improve mood. So treat yourself to 30minutes to an hour nap. Ensure you keep it short and avoid napping in the late afternoon as it will interfere with your sleep at night.

5. Spa day at home

Get your Sunday self-care to the next level with a luxury spa day at home. Pamper yourself with a warm bath, and your favorite scented candles, put on some soothing music, and dim the light. 6. Write it out

If you don’t know yet, let me tell you that journaling is a powerful self-care tool. It allows you to clear your mind and observe your feelings. 7. Meal Prep

It may sound weird to include your meal prep in your self-care routine, but prepping a few things will save you a lot of time and avoid additional stress, especially if you have a busy week ahead. Besides, cooking has many mental health benefits, including stress relief and improving mood. Also, if you are starting with clean eating, meal prep is the best way to stick to your diet.

8. Social media detox

I suggest you do a social media detox on your self-care Sunday for two main reasons:

  • Social media is time-consuming. You can spend hours scrolling without any real purpose. The next thing you know, the day went by, and I haven’t done anything productive except being on social media.
  • Most social platforms have become increasingly toxic.

On your self-care day, you want to stay away from anything that can drain your energy or harm your mood and self-confidence.

9. Meditate

Meditation has a huge array of health benefits, both physically and emotionally. It helps alleviate stress, and reduces anxiety and negative self-talk. Adding meditation to your self-care routine will help you feel more relaxed and improve your sleep and mindfulness. Doing meditation consistently will increase your immunity and protect your cardiovascular health.

10. Go to bed early

Imagine spending your day resting your energy and then you stay up late and wake up on Monday morning with little or no sleep and feel like hell. That’s really counterproductive. Girl, you better go to bed early, turn off your devices and get enough sleep.

Final thoughts
There you have it. These are few suggestions of activities you can incorporate into your self-care Sunday routine. Feel free to try out anything that nourishes your soul.
Self-care is all about caring for yourself in a way that allows you to rest and recharge. If Sunday doesn’t work for you, make sure you choose one other day of the week to practice self-care.
